Cake Jar Favors
My good friend Laurie is getting married this December & a few weekends ago was her bridal shower and bachelorette party.
I offered to make the favors for the shower. I had been dying to make these cupcake jars for a special occasion. If you met Laurie, you'd see that she is certainly special! She lives in VT so I don't see her as often as I'd like but she is one of my favorite friends because she's super funny, sweet, smart and authentic.
So, I found the idea and how-to here and then altered it just a bit. I used a slightly bigger jar which required 2 full cupcakes inside instead of one and thus more icing too. I probably should've stuck with the smaller jar because the spoon was barely long enough to get at the bottom!
For the lids, I used white textured scrapbook paper and punched it with a flower-design cutter then layered colored, patterned paper underneath. I traced the inner circle of the jar for a template and cut my paper into circles using said template, glued them together and they stayed put when the lid was screwed on properly. They turned out cute and kinda rustic looking when all tied up with brown string.
I hope everyone enjoyed them!

Looks good! I was just reading about Clinton who is vegan now. The dairy part wouldn't be difficult for me, but I think I would still have fish, eggs and the occasional chicken/turkey. Good luck! Can't wait to see what other meals you post....
ReplyDeleteok, well, obviously I meant to post the above comment in the other post and just post YUMMY after this entry.
